Computer vision rocks!

Just finished watching a cool video put together by 4 computer science students at UC Berkley. They've put together some clever image processing that lets a computer play "Rock Band", via a camcorder pointed at a TV screen. I don’t want to spoil your enjoyment, so I suggest you just click here to go to their blog, then let the movie play.

Trust me, you’ll like it.

Nice job guys!

Some folks from Texas A&M did something similar, calling theirs 'Slashbot'. They used high-speed digital I/O and implemented a similar peak detection implemented in LabVIEW.

Cool stuff. The fun part is that they hooked up servos to the controls, so instead of sending electrical signals through the controllers lines, hey had motors playing the actual guitar!
