In my ceaseless pursuit of all things machine vision related, I came upon a corporate blog maintained by “The Imaging Source”. Now I’m usually pretty skeptical about corporate blogs for they have but one purpose: to plug a product or company. This one does of course promote “The Imaging Source”, (makers of a broad range of 1394 and USB cameras,) but it actually has some useful information. I found a lot of detail about using the I/O and trigger pins on the back of most Firewire and USB cameras, as well as helpful notes on DCAM/IIDC and DirectShow, plus of course the obligatory piece on “How do I clean my CCD?”
