It’s hard to make money in machine vision integration unless you’re fortunate enough to have an application with high replication potential. One such application is monitoring of injection molding tools, so I’m surprised it’s taken as long as it has for someone to develop a competitor to “MoldWatcher” from Avalon Vision Solutions.
The new(ish) entrant is PPT Vision, with their “Sentinel” system. It’s based on their IMPACT software and smart cameras and there’s an interesting case study on the PPT web site. There’s also a little Excel spreadsheet for calculating your possible savings.
I’m currently evaluating the IMPACT package, so check back in a few days to find out what I think of it.
