OK, that’s an exaggeration, but if you’re new to machine vision and looking for a place to begin learning, the Vision Resource Kit from National Instruments is a good place to start. Topics covered include lighting, optics, image processing, and of course, an introduction to NI’s family of smart cameras.
Beware though; it is a 26MB download, so you probably don’t want to be on a dial up connection when you follow the link above.
