Why would they do that?

In machine vision the name StockerYale is synonymous with fluorescent ring lights and lasers for structured lighting. But having extricated themselves from the more run-of-the-mill laser illumination business they’ve now decided to change name.

With immediate effect (well actually it was last week,) StockerYale is now ProPhotonix Limited.
They argue that, “The new name gives customers, suppliers, and investors a clearer definition of what we do and the direction we intend to pursue.”

Really? Maybe I’m somewhat change-resistant but I thought the StockerYale name worked just fine. Better set about changing my internet bookmarks.
