For some months there have been whispers about Dalsa being wooed by potential suitors, but the actual announcement of an engagement slipped out quietly as the world was winding down at the close of 2010. Fortunately though, your trusty blogger keeps an eye on these things, so I am able to tell you that Dalsa is being acquired by Teledyne for some $340 million CDN. (Here’s a link to the official press release.)
That price represents quite a premium over the recent market valuation, and is significantly more than the annual revenues (currently around $200 million CDN.) Clearly Teledyne see a good future for the mid to high end camera business and they dived in before the stock price really began to reflect the potential.
Anyone want to speculate on who might be next?
