Bringing out the physics geek

This advertisement for CVI Melles Griot made me smile. Perhaps it will do the same for you.

I’m curious how closely the cars actually match the indicated wavelengths. Did they hunt around to find those vehicles or was this all achieved through the magic of Photoshop?

And what about that empty space? Or is it just that we can’t see the car parked in space 1054? If it’s invisible then I want some of that paint for my car!

(There again, I have enough people nearly colliding with my supposedly visible car, so perhaps an invisible one would be really accident-prone!)

Hah! Made me smile too. The utter geekiness of it brings to mind the graffiti I saw many years ago in a physics building bathroom: "3.0 x 10^8 m/s -- it's not just a good idea, it's the law."

That car on the left, however, doesn't quite look to be HeNe red to me. I know we can only see the numeral 3 associated with it, but it's gotta be 633. Spencer

BTW: That should be 1064 (not 1054) for the ND:YAG laser line.
