I don’t know of anyplace you can go to learn how to use machine vision. Universities will teach you image processing, (all very math-intensive,) and vendors will train you to use their products, but knowing your way around a piece of software is not the same as understanding how to put it to work. So obtaining the knowledge to become a user is difficult.
Over at Control Engineering there’s a blogger by the name of Charlie Masi who addressed this issue in a recent post. He provides a number of useful pointers and links, so I suggest that might be a good start point for the vision ‘newbie’. Use this link: machine vision training.
