Opportunity for self-promotion

Summer is coming, at least for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, and this year it brings the biennial “Robots & Vision Show.” Held in June out at Rosemont, Chicago (right by O’Hare airport,) and including motion control as well as machine vision, the show tends to have more of an applications bias than does “The Vision Show.” Being co-located with the “Sensors Expo” also helps justify the trip: there’s just more to see and learn about, and more connections to make.

And as always with these shows, there’s a conference program that provides you, the attendee, with opportunities to learn how to take advantage of these technologies. On the other side of the coin, it also gives presenters the opportunity to showcase their products and expertise, possibly attracting customers and maybe catching a recruiter’s eye.

So if you’re drawn to the idea of speaking to an audience of skeptical engineers, you’ll want to check out the
appeal for presenters. The good news is that the typical audience at these conferences tends to be, well can we say “reserved”? In other words, they don’t ask difficult questions. The exception to this rule is our old friend Andy Wilson, Editor of Vision Systems Design. If Andy is in your audience you’d better be in full command of all your facts and figures.
