Background on DVT

Anyone interested in a short history of DVT – the “smart camera” company that Cognex “took out” a few years back – will enjoy this biography of David Hicks. Apparently Mr. Hicks was part of the management team at DVT up until the acquisition by their bigger competitor.

DVT may not have had the best products, but their sales and marketing was second-to-none. In fact many engineers are surprised to learn that DVT was, in terms of both headcount and revenue, actually a relatively small business.

Makes one wonder what Cognex got for their money.
