Determined to be a serious player in the mid to high end machine vision software market, Thor Vollset has just announced that version 8.0 of his Scorpion package will be released on January 20th. The big area of improvement appears to be in the 3D capabilities. What caught my eye in particular is the use of checkerboard calibration for 3D, which is said to provide higher accuracy than the dot grid method.
No word on pricing yet. I guess we have to wait until the 20th for that.
