If you use any Point Grey cameras in your machine vision applications you might want to pay attention to this: the Canadian manufacturer of Firewire cameras has shifted a number of older products onto the “NANC” list.
The what? The “Not Available for New Customers” list. It’s like Cognex’s NINA list; it means they’re starting a gradual phase-out.
Affected cameras are the Dragonfly, Dragonfly Express, Scorpion and Flea 1394a. They’re being replaced by the Bed Bug, the Spider Mite and some other nasty, bitey thing. Yes, I made those names up. Point Grey will of course continue to offer a wide range of highly capable machine vision cameras.
