Correction on MVTec HALCON availability

Earlier this month, under the heading of “Cognex – MVTec update”, I said that the ITC had blocked the importation of HALCON while they investigated Cognex’s patent infringement complaint.

Seems that was yet another slip of my pen. A reliable source emailed me to say that HALCON can still be purchased legally in the US, which is obviously good news for MVTec. Said source went on to say that the case seems to nearing a conclusion and that the folks at MVTec appear optimistic.

I’ll have more information on this as soon as it becomes available.

But in a related development, Law360 reports that two of the codefendants, Rasco and Subtechnique, have settled with Cognex. Perhaps not what one would expect from companies that believe their case is strong?
