Have you ever tried the “digital editions” of the various trade magazines that flood your desk? If you have, I suspect that, like me, you’ve been underwhelmed. They seem to download slowly, are difficult to skim through, and are just hard to read on a screen.
So what a joy it was to download the online version of “Imaging Insight” from Matrox. It opened up quickly, provided an effective zoom tool, and better yet, provided some very interesting content.
The article I found especially valuable was one on tips for using OCR tools. While written for users of the Matrox MIL product, it contains some good material for anyone struggling to perform optical character recognition. For example, have you ever thought of using a blob tool to locate the text you need to read?
Good job Matrox! You may have won me over to digital magazine.
