These “CCD line cameras” from Mightex are something new to me. I’ve seen Firewire line scan cameras, and I know Dalsa offer their Spyder family with a GigE interface, but never before USB.
At under $1k for a 3648 sensor (uncommon size, that,) this could be a neat way of imaging rotating product. They don’t run fast and you will need to figure out a way to buffer the images for inspection, (is there such a thing as a USB framegrabber?) but they may well have a niche. In short, these cameras are probably more suited to an OEM than an integrator of one-off systems but definitely worth a look

Hello,
Thanks for this interesting contribution. It makes me think in that kind of applications that can be solved with an area camera and which don't need super fast speed, however, is difficult to evenly illuminate the entire part.
Probably it will be much easier to illuminate a restricted area and take benefit of an unexpensive liniar camera...
