Allergy sufferers, machine vision has your back!

If you’re one of those unfortunate individuals who has to peruse the ingredients list on everything you buy, and who lives in dread of peanut residue somehow getting into your nut-free dinner, you’ll find this story interesting.

From Australian Food News (AFN) comes an announcement that the Campbell Soup Company was recently honored by the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network for its efforts in avoiding mislabeling of food cans. (“

At the heart of this success is of course, a vision system. Interestingly enough, AFN chooses to capitalize it, so it’s actually a Vision System, which seems only right and proper, given its role in protecting public safety. Unfortunately though, AFN gives no details beyond telling us that the developer was a company called “Tactical Controls.”
