I want to give a “shout-out” for Spencer Luster of Light Works (LW4U.com) for the useful links he provided recently. If you read my post “Vision troubleshooting tips debated” you may have seen that Spencer took the time to comment on my observation about the drop-off in lumens that LED lights suffer.

Now let me repay the favor and encourage you to boost your optics knowledge by reading some of the papers on the Light Works site. In particular, paper number 4 on “Magnification, f-number, and Depth of Field” should be required reading for all machine vision practitioners.
